Forgotten man Glen Johnson has a year left on his deal, and it had been questioned if he had a future at the club given the form of the deputising Jon Flanagan.
However, his manager Brendan Rodgers has now come out and made it clear that not only is there hope for the player, but there is a massive chance for him to earn a new deal.
“Glen is a player we want to keep,” Rodgers told the Echo.
“In terms of his contract, I am sure that is something that will be discussed between now and the end of the season.
“I think Steven Gerrard went down to the last year of his contract last summer before that was sorted.
“I’m sure it’s something the owners will take up when the time is right. At this moment in time I am only really concentrating on the football aspect.”
Liverpool are of course not only fighting for a top four spot, but also for the title, and could well shock a few people, with their lack of European competition doing them a massive favour as the run in heats up.
