The royal club from Madrid have probably regretted selling excellent Dutchman Arjen Robben. The new Bayern starter had a dream debut at Allianz Arena, where he got the chance in the second half against current champions Wolfsburg and made the best possible use of it.
„Flying Dutchman“ inherited the jersey with number 10 on it from his compatriot and natural-born scorer, Roy Makaay. By the beginning of the second half Robben came on for Hamit Altintop and already after twenty minutes on the pitch, he managed to double Bayern’s lead. Later on Ribery and Robben proved to be top-class players when their action resulted in the third goal. These two swift and technically apt players were practically unstoppable for wolves’ defense that in the end seemed a bit funny after Bayern’s third goal, that is to say Robben’s second.
The career of this excellent winger started nine seasons ago in Groningen, where he, already after the first season, earned the title of best player. Two seasons later he moved to PSV, where he reached the first trophy in his career and the title of the best young striker in Dutch Eredivisie. International caps were his credentials for career abroad and the most offers came from English Premier League. Just when it seemed that the Dutchman has made an agreement to transfer to Manchester United, an unexpected turn happened, so Robben ended up in the capital of England wearing Chelsea jersey. After recovering from injury, he contributed to winning two successive titles in the blue jersey, only to move to Real Madrid after third and not so successful season, for 36 million Euros. Already on his debut in Spain, he got hold of another title, this time with the royal club and it was his fourth tile in the last six years.
After Florentino Perez returned on the presidential post in Real and in a short time recreated the „Galacticos” squad, the club management decided to sell this excellent striker for 25 million Euros to Bayern. Bavarians managed to bring the biggest acquisition just before the closing of the transfer window and now they finally have the team capable of fighting the competition in the Champions League.
The crowd at Allianz Arena welcomed the new member, who will definitely leave a deep trace in the club ad Bundesliga as well. An excellent start with two goals in half an hour saw Bayern record the first triumph after three disappointing rounds and they won the champions. If we are to judge by the start of the season, Robben will definitely reach another title, while his national squad are also one of the favourites for the title next summer in South Africa.
