After a two and a half month break, the new season in Germany started without many surprises. Current champions Wolfsburg managed to crush Stuttgart’s resistance at crowded Volkswagen arena and celebrate 2:0, thanks to Misimovic and Grafite.
Bundesliga will this season be playing in two different terms each Saturday and Sunday.
One of the main favourites for the throne, Bayern disappointed already on their first test, when they only managed to take a point, having drawn 1:1 with dangerous Hoffenheim. Ivica Olic was the one to score the only goal for Munchen side in the opening game.
Under the lead of new coach, Felix Magath Schalke managed to celebrate away against Nurnberg, thus showing that regardless of the fact that they didn’t reinforce the squad as much as other teams, they are still one of the favourites for the top.
Dortmund and Hertha managed to score a goal at home against Koln and Hannover, respectively, so they too claimed their positions in the top part of the standings.
Frankfurt players made a real feat by winning Werder 3:2 in Bremen, where former captain and double scorer Amanatidis excelled, after finally recovering from injury that kept him out of the pitch for most of the last season.
Two newcomers Freiburg and Mainz managed to take a point at home against favoured Leverkusen and Hamburger, thus showing that they won’t be an easy prey for anyone, especially when playing at home.
And finally, the thriller of Bundesliga opening round was in Bochum, where the hosts were even three goals behind after the first half against M Gladbach. In the second part of the game Bochum managed to make an express comeback and even the score after only ten minutes, only for the visitors to miss the fantastic chance to take three points seconds before time.
As usually, we saw plenty of goals scored in Germany and no match ended goalless and the average scoring was almost three goals per game.
