If anyone wanted to, they couldn’t have picked the worst rivals for the Italian clubs. The way things are now, Serie A teams, like last season, probably won’t last long in the Champions League in spring.
Inter are in the worst situation. Mourinho will be back to Stamford Bridge, but the performance of his team against the strongest teams tells us that the spring will be only a formality.

Another season of
Chelsea have won quite a few titles during Roman Abramovich’s reign but Champions League title remains just a dream, at least for the time being. The famous penalty miss by John Terry denied them the coveted title two years back but the Blues are now looking really well under new boss Carlo Ancelotti, who admitted the Champions League title was the main objective this season. The Blues have undoubtedly had a great start to the season, but can they finally win the coveted title?
The excitement is in the air as Champions League football is just few days away. The most coveted title in club football is up for grabs and some seven or eight teams are hoping to steal the title from Barcelona. On the other hand, this is the first season when the new qualifying format was introduced and as a result, several teams from minor leagues have been given the chance to test their skills against the best teams in Europe. A great learning experience or something more? We’ll see.
South Africa failed to qualify for the Confederations Cup finals after the narrow defeat to Brazil but Joel Santana’s side matched the high-profile opponents for large periods of the game and they thus once again showed they had the potential to create a few surprises at the World Cup 2010, which they will host. Their fans have every reason to be pleased with the national team even though they had some doubts in the past and I am sure that Bafana Bafana will have a tremendous support at next year’s World Cup.
