Transfer campaign has hit the boiling point and many of the players from English lower tiers have been in the heat over the past couple of days. Let’s start chronologically, from our last briefing.
Firstly, Bristol City striker, Steve Brooker, has finally become a Doncaster member and Sean O’Driscol’s wish has finally come true. Brooker had played couple of games for Donny on loan, had some pretty successful appearances, but the injury prevented him from sticking around. He is now safe and sound, ready for new challenge in his new shirt. Doncaster have brought another young striker, Dean Shields from Hibernian, while they also managed to resist Birmingham in their wish to capture the signing of defender Matthew Mills.
Daniel Nardiello is another player who was stopped on his way to shine by a bad injury. After the return to Barnsley, he didn’t get much chance to play and moved to Hartlepool. Speaking of the Tykes, they have brought three excellent players for this division: Malta striker, Michael Misfud from Coventry, Iranian, Andranik Teymourian from Fulham, and also Adam Hammil from Liverpool.
Blackpool have again reached out for loanies. After DJ Campbell, who is already scoring goals, Paul Marshall came from Manchester City, excellent midfielder Charlie Adam from Glasgow Rangers, while Bret Omerodom from Preston also came to the club on free transfer. There is also a midfielder Francesco Carratta loaned from Belgian Antwerpen.
Surprisingly enough, Coventry have decided to give up on Kevin Kyle and the striker ended up in Scottish Kilmanrock. Still, it appears it won’t take much time for him to return to Championship. That is why the Sky-Blues brought a fine defender, James McPake and a midfielder David Bell from Norwich.
Rock-bottomed Charlton also decided to try their luck with loans. Daren Ward from Wolves will play another spell at the club, and there is also Tresor Kandol from Leeds. Crystal Palace, who would gladly sell players since they are broke, have still brought striker Rui Fonte on loan from Arsenal and defender Claude Davis from Derby. Shefki Kuqi has rejected a new cut offer, while Alvin Andrew was loaned to Brighton. Norwich City were also being busy loaning too, during this transfer window. Australian David Carney has arrived from Sheffield United, strker Chris Killen from Celtic along with Alan Gow who didn’t sign with Wolves and ended up in Norfolk. Adrian Leijer also arrived on loan from Fulham, while the Italian striker Arturo Lupoli left for Sheffield United.
Hull’s Wayne Brown ended up in Leicester, while Derby have brought an excellent Motherwell striker, Chris Porter. Aleksandar Prijovic was loaned from Derby to Yeowil, while Fulham have managed to loan Rams’ young striker and one of the most talented players in Coca Cola Championship, Giles Barnes.
He will be on Craven Cottage until the end of the summer when he will most likely sing a contract with London outfit.keeper, Lewis Price was loaned to Luton.
Quincy Owusu-Abeyie, Spartak Moscow striker, who had a most successful spell with Birmingham this autumn, has moved to Arsenal. And of course, he was immediately loaned to the Championship side Cardiff. Endangered Southampton have brought the Hungarian defender Zoltan Liptak from Ujpest.
Most certainly, two of the biggest names in the last couple of days of the transfer campaign in Coca Cola Championship are connected with Wolves and Cardiff. Scotland Hearts’ captain, defender Christophe Berra, has cost Wolves €2.5 million, while Cardiff pulled off a loan of their old boy Michael Chopra from Sunderland who had also had a noticeable role this autumn for the Welsh side.
