It has happened again, another great footballer is transfer-listed by his club. Last season’s best right-back in the Championship, Bristol City’s Bradley Orr, didn’t agree the terms of the new contract with his club and will probably look for new surroundings in January.
Orr hasn’t been in the first team for a longer time, and the ones not familiar with the right reasons might say Bristol manager Gary Johnson’s decision is peculiar. First of all, it is one quality winger who is at the same time quick, great shooter and is doing an excellent job swinging the ball in (like all English backs). He is also able to score both by left or his right foot, and is doing a great job in defense. He stays remembered by his brilliant performances in last year’s play-off semifinals and finals.
Whether his boss is unwilling to put his hand deeply in his pocket and spend some more money or there are a lot of cheaper players on the market or is he ‘hungry’ and wants a bigger paycheck, we don’t know. One thing we know for sure is that it has become a sort of a rule that we get deprived of watching some excellent players in act when they are left sidelined, or on the stands while waiting to go on loan or for some other club to buy them off. Earlier this season, similar thing happened to the excellent, young Crystal Palace midfielder Ben Watson who didn’t accept to be the Eagles’ top earner and was forced to sit on the bench for a couple of months, but manager Neil Warnock put him back in the first team later on.
Maybe him being punished for unprofessional behavior turned out to be effective, but we doubt it will be the case with more experienced Bradley Orr. All we can do is wonder who is right, the truth is certainly somewhere in the middle, while Bradley awaits the call from a Premier League outfit since his PLAYING ABILITIES certainly deserve to be displayed in the top tier.
