That glorious Champions League final in Rome proved two things… firstly, that the better team did win and secondly, it unveiled Ronaldo’s true colors. Blaming someone else for your team’s failure is no trade of a real sportsman and the easiest thing one can do in a situation like that is to shut the door and leave.
I guess people say a lot of things they might not really think when they are angry or disappointed and Manchester United really have every right to feel that way. Boss blames shoddy defending, Tevez claims they would’ve won with him on from the start and Ron blames the wrong tactics. And I admit, they all have a point there, but the way Ronaldo splashes out his accusations and all the things he says really annoy me.
Over the past twelve months, the Old Trafford outfit have won the total of four trophies most valuable of which are definitely the Premier League and FIFA World Cup and one might think that would count for a very successful season. And it probably would for most of the people who would admit the better team outplayed them and that they deservedly lost the grand finale. Still, a defeat like this appears to wipe out every previous achievement.
More than enough reason for Ron to start thinking about his future somewhere outside Manchester or possibly outside England? It is obvious that Ronaldo is not Scholes nor Giggs who would commit their lives to one, and only one club, but in tough times like these he simply acts like a pampered baby showing no respect at all to the shirt he’s wearing.
After expressing his impressions after the game, Portuguese star said a lot of things about wrong tactics and about the greatest disappointment in his life, but when asked if he will stay in Manchester united after this, he quickly replied “I don’t know”! He doesn’t know!?! They treat him like a king, he is earning more money than we can only imagine, he is given the greatest freedom on the pitch, he is playing for the greatest club on the planet Earth and he doesn’t know!?! And there it is, these three small words say it all about his character…
If it was the other way around, I bet Messi would’ve congratulated his rivals for the better play fairly accepting the loss…but not this guy…and even to put a doubt like this…
There is another thing that I must mention here and I bet we have all seen it after the game… with all Man Utd players climbing up there on the stand to receive the medals, with their long faces, I know you all saw Milan president Berlusconi whispering something on Ronaldo’s ear which immediately changed the look on his face putting a wide smile on it.
I don’t really know what it was, but if we see Ronaldo in Milan this summer, we will be able to guess…
