Blackburn boss, Sam Allardyce demanded from Football Association to accept the system of video technology in the games so the clubs won’t get damaged from referees’ mistakes.
Blackburn players lost to Arsenal 2:6 on Sunday and the referee in the game, according to British press, didn’t adjudge a penalty for Blackburn that could have been a chance for them to level the score to 3:3.
Allardyce said that „human“ mistakes are unacceptable in Premier League, as the eventual loss of points would bring about relegation and furthermore huge financial losses.
-That is why we demand video evidence in games. If there is a possibility to challenge two or three referee’s decisions, we might be able to change the situation. Perhaps we could have won a point against Arsenal. Millions of pounds are at stake… Doubtful decisions can be dangerous and lead to negative results that can get you relegated, which costs a lot. The club might even go bankrupt. A team should get relegated for underperforming not because of referees’ mistakes- said Allardyce.
Blackburn boss said that referee Peter Walton was in excellent position from where he could see everything and he should have decided in their favour.
Also, Allardyce added that he realizes the referees are under huge pressure, but the ones that are not doing their job properly should be replaced. – In my career I have tried not to comment on referee’s work and let the Football Association deal with it. But I had to state my opinion, because I know that I am right – said Allardyce.
