Bragging around with buying off Kaka, Buffon or Drogba or everyone all together Arabian Manchester City owners are going on everyone’s nerves. After all of that, they will end up only with Wayne Bridge, Craig Bellamy and Carlo Cudicini, but nonetheless. One thing the sheiks shouldn’t allow is the selling of excellent youngsters they have in their team. And that is exactly what they are doing…
One of them is excellent young Welsh striker Ched Evans. Chad had time to prove himself playing in Coca Cola Championship, while only getting a spoonful of chance with City. Will this 20-year-old hear the cry of his motherland or will he choose to follow the scent of money to Scotland?
Ched Evans has started his senior career in the autumn of 2007. After the Carling Cup debut for Manchester City, he was loan to Coca Cola Championship, actually to Norwich where he finally hit the spotlights. He scored ten goals for Canaries in few excellent months at Carrow Road and brought a huge interest upon him. Still, Manchester City didn’t want to give up on him and he opened the season with Citizens. He played on fifteen or so games, mostly coming on as a sub, he even managed to score a goal, but that was the end of Chad Evans story for the wealthiest club in the world.
In the meantime, Chad was transformed from the standard U21 Wales national team member to the standard senior member by John Toshack. He scored a goal with his heel at his debut against Iceland in May, 2008 and brought a win to his Whales (1-0).
At the moment, Evans has a sale tag on his back with Arabs. Cardiff chairman Peter Risdale wants to get him (on loan at least) and he is trying to win him on the account of “homeland love”, but Celtic are offering a full undisclosed price. Whatever happens, but I feel that this is going to be just another case of a excellent youngster left alone by his “big” home club. The club that wants to give big amounts for big stars, but is blind to huge potentials in his own backyard.
