Football World had the time to adjust to seeing him on the bench while he was Harry Redknapp’s assistant in Portsmouth but not one of us knew what he was all about. I have just read his interview for Daily Mail and will try to share some of my views on the subject.
Former Arsenal player stated that it was going to be his first and last interview as manager of Portsmouth, and the reason is simple, he doesn’t like people. He went on to say that he was a loner and if it were up to him he would just walk his dogs, never talk to people and then die. Not even his wife would be preferred to his desired life style, but as he says, he is prepared to make compromises. Even though I don’t think he is suitable for the coaching job after his recent comments, I’ve got to admire his honesty and straightforwardness. This is the man who knows success, having played for Arsenal in the club’s most successful period in history and he certainly has something to pass on to the players. This is the main reason why he decided to turn to coaching, as he says, and you’ve got to admire the effort he has made considering that he don’t like people.
Adams is confident that he will succeed at the top level even though he has a very difficult task of filling the boots of one of the great managers, Harry Redknapp. A lot of people are comparing him to Roy Keane as both are great leaders and born winners, and are at the start of their coaching career. Despite all the comments he has given in aforementioned interview, he seems to be getting along with the players and the people at the club and his self-control must be incredible. Tony Adams is above all a very interesting man and all of us will have a lot of fun listening to his views on life and football. I just hope that this is not going to be his last interview and that he will share some more interesting thoughts with the football fans all over the World.
