The World Cup is just around the corner and the players whose national teams have qualified for the biggest tournament in sports are trying to find a way to book themselves a ticket on the plane to South Africa. Some ‘smaller’ national teams’ coaches face problems as their key players are not getting enough playing time in their clubs, but who could have though Fabio Capello would have one such problem. At the moment, Emile Heskey is regular in England national team but he founds himself on the fringes at Aston Villa and he seriously considers quitting on the West Midlands club.
Next World Cup is extremely important for England as the whole nation believes the Three Lions finally have the chance to mount a serious title challenge. The Italian manager has done well to shape things up within the team and now his players are fully focused on football. The team have been playing great football during the World Cup qualifying campaign and the boss has a great team at his disposal. However, he is yet to put all the pieces together as he needs to decide on number 1 keeper and a striker to partner Wayne Rooney.
Emile Heskey has been occupying that second place in attack during the past year but the big problem at the moment is that the towering striker is not getting enough playing time at Aston Villa. Heskey (Heskey goals)has been brought as a big name signing last January but he found himself behind Agbonlahor and Carew in the pecking order and could now leave the club after just one year with the Villans. Knowing that Capello is unlikely to put up with him much longer if he doesn’t play on regular basis, Heskey has announced he would have to quit Villa in January if Martin O’Neill keeps him tied to the bench.
That is definitely the right way to go for the striker who has already impressed Capello enough to be handed a starting berth and he just needs to be playing at regular basis, even for a team like Hull or Wigan. It would be a shame for Heskey to lose his place in the national team after all those years he was trying to return into the reckoning and I am pretty sure he will leave Villa in January.
