Even though Jose Mourinho was keen to bring his compatriots Deco and Carvalho to Inter, Massimo Moratti seems to have pulled the plug on the deal. Inter president said his team were strong enough and that there was no need for new signings.
Even though it seemed that Chelsea pair was on the verge of joining Inter, it now looks that the deal is off. Jose Mourinho insisted on bringing the experienced Portuguese internationals, with whom he has already worked at Porto and Chelsea. However, Massimo Moratti feels that the team are strong enough as it is.
“There is no doubt that these are great players. But, for the time being we have ended negotiations with Chelsea, because when I look at the squad, I don’t think we need to bring any more players. Current squad look excellent to me”, Moratti said for ‘Corriere dello Sport’.
Inter have already signed Diego Milito and Thiago Motta from Genoa but Mourinho believes that his team need further reinforcing if they are to challenge for the Champions League title.
