Just when the window opened, some interesting deals have already been made. First of all, we should point out that teams that didn’t do their job right this summer are now in the worst position. Teams like Blackpool, Norwich or Charlton have all been looking to fill in the squad with loanies and now, when most of those have returned to their home clubs, there is huge draught all over their squads. Now, all there is for them to do is to search for available players and to drastically alter their so far composed teams, and all in circle again… that’s it when haven’t got money for proper transfers, and when relegation is catching up on you. Still, those with enough money have done quite the opposite – signed the loanies that have been satisfactory so far.
First day on the transfer window brought former great hope of English football and Manchester United, Luke Chadwick signing up for MK Dons, where he was on loan from Norwich. Here is how a career can go on… Peter Styvar, talented striker came to Bristol City from Zilina from Slovakia and it seems he will be given an immediate chance to play. Excellent Aston Villa wing, , Wayne Routlidge, opted not to sign for Cardif where he was excellent on loan this autumn, instead he chose QPR. Heidar Helguson, Island striker who was on loan from Bolton did the same thing, just like it was the case with Gary Borrowdale, Coventry’s left-back.
Argentine Hugo Colace signed for Barnsley where he has spent the entire fall playing as loaned player form Newells Old Boys. Middlesborough defender Seb Hines, has come to Derby on loan, while the experienced Reading captain, Graem Murty was loaned to Charlton in order to regain his fitness after the long recovery period.
It appears that Birmingham have done the best job so far. Alex McLeish is still chasing Wolves so he rushed to sign the experienced West Ham player, Lee Bowyer, and bringing young Scott Sinclair from Chelsea, who has been under the radar of many Premiership outfits, can be considered even the greater achievement. Experienced striker Hameur Bouazza also arrived from Fulham (played for Charlton this fall) on loan.
Magnificent midfielder Brian Howard, after what has been a pretty successful loan in Barnsley, has finally put a pen on the contract with Sheffield United, while the Peruvian Migel Mosto has left Barnsley to return to his homeland due to personal reasons. DJ Campbell went to Blackpool on loan from Leeds United, while Jonathan Grounds has arrived to Norwich from Middlesborough, you guess, on loan again. Wolves’ left-out Michael Gray came
to Sheffield United, and another fine footballer who didn’t play much in his club (Lee Trundle from Bristol City) has found new surroundings and came to Leeds United.
Finally, we would like to point out the move of the experienced (but not the old) Dean Windass from Hull (where he barely played at all) to Oldham Athletic…
There will certainly be more exciting overturns and shifts. It is already announced the move of the most illustrious Championship striker, James Beattie to Stoke City from his home Sheffield United. We will see what will happen, and feed the most interesting news on time…
