Premier League would be better off without Bolton

One of the big mysteries in English Premier League is just how are Bolton staying alive as ever since Big Sam left the club they have been struggling to avoid the drop. The Trotters are playing the worst football in England and their long-ball tactics definitely makes their fans sick and everyone else for that matter. Still, they somehow manage to stay above the relegation zone and it seems that all the football fans are sentenced to another season of watching Bolton in the top flight football.

The Trotters played good football under Sam Allardyce but things have changed considerably since he left the club. Gary Megson brought his out-of-date style of football with him and no wonder that the fans don’t like him even though he is keeping the team in the league for two seasons running. English Premier League is synonymous with attractive, fast flowing football and Bolton’s long-ball tactics is an exception to the rule. Megson wants his players to be fighters and to run miles but he cannot do without at least a couple of creative individuals. His players are as creative as Genaro Gattuso and that explains why they are not a joy to watch. The team are doing well this season considering the lack of quality and it seems that they will once again avoid the drop. Still, they have scored most of the goals after set-pieces or opponents’ defensive mistakes, while their build-up play simply doesn’t exist. As long as one can hit the ball hard and can jump high enough, he can play for Bolton and that is just the way things are in the team these days.

They are somehow recording decent results despite the obvious lack of quality but that cannot last forever. Even if Bolon were to stay in the Premiership for few more years, I am sure that their fans will turn against them very soon as nobody wants to watch their team being outclassed in every single game, even if the results are good. Premier League is probably the most exciting league in the World and Bolton are the only team ruining the reputation. All things considered, I think that we would all be better off without Bolton in the top tier of English football and hope to see them get relegated as soon as possible.
