Almost all Premier League clubs are eagerly awaiting January transfer window as they will attempt to additionally boost their squads. Manchester City is likely to be the busiest club in January but the others will follow. Here is the list of the players that have attracted a lot of attention this season and could change their clubs in the next transfer window.
Luis Antonio Valencia (Wigan)
Ecuadorian midfielder has shown great deal of potential this season and he is on the radar of Manchester United, Liverpool and Aston Villa. Real Madrid is also interested in Valencia but it seems that they will not be able to pay the asking price of 15 million pounds. The English clubs would have no problems paying the wanted amount and he is more likely to stay in the Premier League. Still, Alex Ferguson stated that he didn’t want to buy in January and we are yet to see if this is just another trick of Sir Alex.
Michael Turner (Hull)
Hull’s center-back was an integral part of Tigers’ success this season and his commanding defensive displays have not gone unnoticed. Manchester City and Liverpool are said to be very interested for Turner, and they are unlikely to put off by Hull’s asking price, which is in the region of £8 mil. Turner’s impressive displays have attracted attention from Fabio Capello and defender is likely to be called into one of the future England squads.
Roque Santa Cruz (Blackburn)
The prolific striker has already expressed his desire to join Manchester City and reunite with his former manager Mark Hughes. The Paraguayan striker would be a big boost for City’s misfiring attack and his £18 mil release clause shouldn’t be a problem for City’s rich owners. It is highly unlikely that some other Premiership club will enter the race for his signature.
Glen Johnson (Portsmouth)
After an unsuccessful spell at Chelsea, Glen Johnson transferred to Portsmouth and he has been very impressive this season. Injuries have stopped him from showing all he’s got but he is still on the wish lists of teams like Liverpool and Tottenham. Tony Adams could be reluctant to sell him in January but if the right offer comes in, I am sure that he will have no problems letting him go.
Emile Heskey (Wigan)
Former Liverpool target man is in impressive form over the last year or so and he has emerged as one of the top targets in January transfer window. The big advantage for the interested clubs is that Heskey’s contract is due to expire this summer and Wigan will be looking to earn some money on him while they still can. Liverpool, Chelsea and Aston Villa have joined the race to sign him and he looks certain to leave Wigan in the next couple of weeks.
Michael Owen (Newcastle)
As soon as he was fit again Michael Owen started scoring goals and reminded me of the player he once had been. Clubs like Chelsea and Everton quickly came lurking and he could be on the road to leave St James Park in January. His contract expires this summer, but Owen stated that he intended to stay in Newcastle. Still, considering that his team is on the wrong end of the Premiership table, Owen could change his mind and leave the club.
Jimmy Bullard (Fulham)
Jimmy Bullard did great at Fulham despite constantly fighting with injuries and he even earned an England call-up. Bolton and Tottenham are just some of the teams that would like to see him in their team but Bullard is another of the players who would rather stay where he is.
Ashley Young (Aston Villa)
Ashley Young has progressed a great deal during his relatively short stay at Aston Villa and he is one of the best Premier League players at the moment. Real Madrid sees him as an answer to their problems and they look extremely determined to buy him in January. The fee is thought to be in the region of £25 million but it is still not clear whether Young is ready to quit Villa Park. He has been an integral part of Villa’s successful season and Martin O’Neill is unlikely to give up on him easily.

Ashley Young should be the most wanted one because his pace and delivery is so good. But, I don’t think he is unlikely to leave the club. Villa might qualify for UEFA Champion League if they can continue with good performance.
