Just one day after fulfilling his first promise having signed Kaka from Milan, Florentino Perez hinted on another big name signing. It seems that money is not a problem for Real Madrid since they are set to pay Valencia around €40 million for the services of one David Villa. Spanish ‘Marca’ states that Los Che striker is very close to signing a deal with Real and Villa is thus set to become the second signing of the transfer window for Florentino Perez.
Spanish media have already hinted on who the second signing in the new Galacticos era will be. As ‘Marca’ states, Valencia’s best player and top scorer, David Villa is on the brink of signing a contract with Real Madrid. The deal is thought to be worth around €40 million, which is the money debt-stricken Valencia could really use.
However, the question is if Perez will have any money left from the Kaka deal to complete the transfer for Valencia marksman and Chelsea are the latest club to join the race for one of the best European strikers at the moment.
27-year-old Villa was Euro 2008 top scorer and he was one of the reasons why Spain won the long-awaited title. He’s been playing at a very high level for a couple of years now but his loyalty to Valencia fended off interest from big European clubs in the past. Nevertheless, the time has come for Villa to say goodbye to Los Che and he just have to decide what his next destination will be. Chelsea and Real Madrid are the early favourites, although Barcelona and Manchester City are also in the race and neither of these teams would have any problems matching Valencia asking price.
