It seems that Real Madrid still haven’t forgotten the embarrassing elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Liverpool, as Los Merengues are reportedly trying to hurt their rivals by taking three of their very important players. Florentino Perez is ready to offer €65 million for Alonso, Mascherano and Arbeloa and we are yet to see Liverpool’s reaction.
Florentino Perez is simply relentless. He has offered Liverpool €65 million in exchange for the services of long-term target Xabi Alonso, Javier Mascherano and Alvaro Arbeloa. Rafa Benitez is determined to keep the midfield duo and he is only pondering about selling Arbeloa. However, the Spanish manager is afraid that American owners, who suffered big losses during the recession, will not be able to resist the lure of money.
Real have been keen on Xabi Alonso ever since Florentino Perez arrived to the club but they have been unable to reach agreement with Liverpool, who reportedly want €41 million for the holding midfielder. Los Merengues are also very interested in Mascherano and Arbeloa, but while they should have no problems luring Spain’s defender, the Reds are probably not prepared to sell either Alonso or Mascherano, at least not for the price being mentioned, since they are building a team capable of finally lifting the Premier League trophy.
