Does Roman Abramovich play Championship Manager?
The news that Gokhan Tore, youngster from German Leverkusen moved to Chelsea made everyone wonder who is he?
The kids that spend their time in virtual CM world trying to win all the trophies with their favourite teams, are not surprised with this transfer. Tore, born in Turkey but grew up in Germany and went through their football academy is one of the most wanted youngsters in this computer simulation. Actually, Tore is listed under wunderkind category, someone you don’t pay too much money for, but who turns out to be a big star.
Did some of Chelsea scouts simply look for a player in CM to earn his real life salary?
It’s a joke, of course. Tore made his debut on big football scene in the famous U17 US Stars tournament. He is a very fast midfielder and if he manages to fit in the island football standards, he will probably have a great career. He signed the contract for 3 years and he will continue to develop his talent in Chelsea football academy.
This is not the first nor the last time the Blues snatched a player from smaller clubs. All complaints to UEFA for such policy are of course, in vain. Last year Chelsea set their eye on a 15-year old Reggina player, Vicenzo Camilleri. Everyone in Calabria were furious, threatened to take legal actions, after UEFA said that there is no way to prevent such things. Whole Italy accuses Camilleri’s parents that they sold their son, who made a grand leave in a helicopter that came in Reggio Calabre for him and his mother who was promised a job.
But it was soon old news, things settled down. Camilleri was forgotten but few days ago he decided to come back to Italy. Another dream failed to come true and it is hard to believe that he will be welcome in his country.
What will happen to Tore remains to be seen. Unfortunately, real life is more cruel and realistic than Championship Manager, where even teams like Manchester City win trophies…
