WBA will struggled to avoid moving to Championship, and after seeking for defensive midfielder and some rumours about PSG reserve, Moulumbu, Tony Mowbray decided to focus on South African market. Old Continent already knows about Juan Carlos Menseguez as he was announced in Germany as a big revelation when he came to Wolfsburg as a talented River Plate youngster. He has capped over 100 matches in the club that had some privileges in buying Argentinean players because of Volkswagen factories in Argentina.
Menseguez came back to home land and started playing for San Lorenzo. Now he is in for another European adventure, Baggies spent the last money on 24-year old winger and he is the third signing after Fortune from Nancy and Jay Simpson from Arsenal. €3,5 million purchase is sort of a gamble considering WBA’s not-so-good financial situation.
We should mention that Menseguez wasn’t a regular starter in San Lorenzo this season, he was a fringe player even, so we are not sure how Baggies plan to build their survival strategy on this new signing.
Menseguez, also known as “lightening” because of his speed has Italian passport so he will be able to join Albion team already next week. However, hardly can he manage to change the destiny of the club that desperately need a defensive midfielder. WBA fans are facing anxious period of expectation. Another question is if Christian Obodo will reinforce the Baggies… that is a player that might increase Albion’s chance for survival.
Anyway, if the transfer does happen, Christian Obodo’s profile will wait for you at www.soccerpie.com.

Interesting comments …. who is Christian Obodo, by the way? You should also be aware that WBA is well known to be of the best financially run clubs in England – please note. The other point is that the Premiership is very quick – so probably Menseguez will suit it more than in South America – we have to see, maybe as early as tomorrow against Newcastle, which will be missing Jonas Gutierrez (another Argentine) at full back.
