There are certain situations when the players or coaches are under a lot of pressure. This is not surprising for the modern football you would think. Of course, it’s a rare thing that a player is enjoying playing for the club or country, considering the increasing number of complicated demands he should fulfill against the rivals that have the same task. However, I want to divert your attention to some strange situations that can additionally complicate things. I am talking about players and coaches who are relatives.
It is not rare to see brothers in the same team or in different teams, even big rivals. There is probably one such case in every country. These are just some of them, Fabio and Paolo Cannavaro, Gary and Phil Neville, Diego and Gabi Milito, Ely and Payton Manning… oops is a NFL
Also, there is probably a bunch of sons of football players who tried to topple their famous fathers. However, it is very rare to see that a son completely outshine his famous father. Even though the sons have everything, the genes, great teacher and the opportunity, they often fail to make a big career. Thank God for the exception of the rule. One career that completely outshone his father’s is certainly Paolo Maldini’s. Cesare Maldini surely had no doubts on whether to include his son into the Italian National team. Paolo was simply irreplaceable in his position. Both of them had won the European crown with Milan. Things are similar with Niko and Zlatko Kranjcar. And do I need to mention Frank Lampard senior and junior. Bojan Krkic’s father was also a football player and I bet we can reminisce hundreds of similar examples.
Still, what happened in Peruvian top division on the 25th May this year by far outshone all previous cases. Father and son Juan Carlos and Carlos Alonso played together for Cienciano against Juan Aurich. It is hard to say which one of them was under bigger pressure but 40 year-old Juan Carlos couldn’t prevent bursting into tears.
And in the end, I feel that the most interesting is the situation of Kun Aguero, who is playing for Argentina, the team that is coached by his father-in-law and the greatest ever football player, Diego Armando Maradona. Because of the complications with his wife’s pregnancy, Aguero missed the chance to play at Maradona’s debut but he surely need not worry for the place in the team. It is always difficult to be appreciated by the parents of your better half but Aguero has an extra task, to satisfy the best player ever. I believe that the fact that he is coached by his father-in-law generates extra pressure in every game. So far he has managed to topple one of Maradona’s records, having become the youngest ever player in Argentinean top division, by playing a match with just 15 years and 35 days. And on top of all that, Maradona proclaimed Messi as his successor. Here is the proof . Judging by all this, the son-in-law will have a lot to prove in the future.
