The growing number of big European clubs is scouring the World searching for young talents, as this usually pays off later in the future. The players are being scouted at a very early age and big clubs usually try to keep an interest in individual players very quiet as otherwise, they face a possibility of the deal being hijacked by their rival clubs. Barcelona’s Gerard Deulofeu has emerged as the hottest prospect in Europe at his age, and clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea have already showed interest in signing him.
The Spanish player is just 14-years-old but pundits are predicting a very bright future for him as he is very dominant for the player of his age. Deulofeu is a quick, highly technical left winger, but he can also play on the other side of the pitch. He is a right footed player, which allows him to cut inside from the left flank with lethal effect. He has plenty of skills, and a great finish, which made even Samuel Eto’o impressed with him. Deulofeu is currently playing for Barcelona’s youth teams but he is tracked by a host of big European clubs. Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea are locked in the battle for the future star of European football, although Barcelona is determined not to lose him, bearing in mind the Fabregas case. Arsene Wenger practically stole Fabregas from Barcelona at a very young age and the Spaniard is now key player in Arsenal team.
Here is the short clip for you to see what he is all about.
However, Deulofeu has recently stated that he wanted to stay in Barcelona and he wasn’t interested in a move to England and I certainly feel that he would be better off staying at Barcelona. The Catalan club have excellent youth system and great coaches and the wonderkid will have the chance to develop his skills further in a very healthy environment. Barcelona are famous for giving the chance to players from their own youth academy and Deulofeu would surely have his place in the first team. On the other hand, if he was to transfer to some of the mentioned clubs, he would be under a big pressure as everybody would expect him to make the quick transition to first team football, and I doubt that he would be able to fulfill his potential to the fullest. For now, you should just remember his name so that we could check his progress in a couple of years from now.
