Now we can officialy say that you read it first. A couple of days ago we have launched news that Manchester United agreed a fee for Serbian international Zoran Tosic. Just a couple of hours later, United scout Budimir Vujacic and Partizan director Ivan Tomic, both denied that they even spoke about any of Partizan’s players. As we said, it was pretty weird since we could not remember that United denied any similar rumor.
Now it is official. ManUtd.com just announced that they have secured work permit for Zoran Tosic.
Tosic will officialy sign for United after January 1st, but the deal is done and Nani will have to fight for his place on the left wing. After we have published the news, we have tones of questions regarding him. To be honest, I don’t rate him very high. I have seen him in action more then 10 times, and he rarely showed that he can be world class player, at least not one that can replace the legend on the United wing. Of course, I am not the scout, so maybe I am missing something big. As probably all of you know, Tosic is dead-ball specialist and has a excellent shot from the distance. And that’s pretty it. Everything else is average or slightly above average. When you consider that Ronaldo, Tevez and Hargreaves are also dead-ball specialists, can you imagine that Bambi will have his chance to use his best weapon. On the other hand, United is pretty short with wingers at the moment. Yes, they have The Slave as the best one you can ever get, but the other winger is far away from that standard. Park is a solid option, while Nani did not prove that he can offer consistency Fergie desperately needs on the left. Giggs is now central midfielder, while United is short with youngsters in that position (while they are filled with strikers like Wellbeck, Macheda, Cambell, Manucho beside the big three….see how things can twist in a couple of months). So, it is possible that Tosic will get his chance, and only the time will show if he will be the right solution.I would not be surprise that Sir Alex once again see more then the rest of us.
Our sources are saying that the first option for Adem Ljajic is the part of the deal. He will spend the whole season at Partizan with regular place in the starting lineup, and will sign for United in the summer. Partizan lost to Standard yesterday, at home, by 1:0, and both Ljajic and Tosic have been included in the starting lineup. While it is nothing weird for Tosic who is regular starter, Ljajic start is a surprise. He got first team action in Partizan’s last league game against OFK Belgrade and scored with an excellent shot from out of the box (see video), and start against Standard was his second in a row. As we said, regular starts are the part of the deal and should give some experience to the kid before the big move to the Premier league.
