How far are you ready to go when your team is losing? Don’t ask Real’s Pepe that question…Portuguese international’s violent outburst in the Getafe game has left all people (apart from biggest Real Madrid fans maybe) shocked and appalled.
Although his team eventually won the game 3-2, disappointed with the current result Pepe just couldn’t bear mediocre Getafe humiliate his side and he decided to deal with it on his own… Francisco Casquero, who, by the way, pulled of an amazing performance, ran passed Pepe in the box, but Real star was determined not to let him escape so he shoved him to the ground. It wasn’t enough for him so he stamped on the Getafe midfielder (once) attempting to clear the ball and then repeated the action brutally. What is worse, red card didn’t stop him from palming the angry Juan Albin in the face and insulting the shocked referee.
What an unprofessional behavior for the professional… he might’ve even seriously injured that poor Getafe player and all he got from the federation’s disciplinary committee for this crazy outburst is a ten-game ban!!! I know that Real fans would have a lot of things to say to this remark, but I believe he should consider himself lucky for receiving this mild punishment. And it is only thanks to Real Madrid’s stature and big influence that he didn’t get more of a well-deserved penalty.
Just to support my claim I would like to mention a case that happened more than a year ago when young Serbian defender Slobodan Rajkovic was handed a hefty one-year ban for spitting at a referee during the Olympics. The boy was also angry with his side losing 2-0 to Argentina and spat towards the referee which proved to cost him dearly. The suspension was to be applied to all national and international matches including club competitions, but Rajkovic appealed against it and managed to cut the ban. Just to mention, Slobodan Rajkovic is Chelsea player on loan in Netherlands and that harsh decision could’ve easily ruined the development of this 20-year-old. Unfortunately for Rajkovic, he is not playing for Real and he is not an established player like Pepe to have the kind of protection Portuguese star had for his convict behavior…
I bet he really is sorry for what he did, he even claims he will retire even only 26, but that would only show his weak will and character. Ok, you did what you did you crazy boy, now stick it and be a man…
