Barca taught Bayern a lesson

Never have one team made winning games look so easy as Barcelona are doing this season. The Catalans are a joy to watch and they manage to achieve great results by playing attractive attacking football, which is the dream of every football coach. Pep Guardiola’s team showed why they were considered main candidates for the Champions League title, having taught Bayern Munich, one of the true European giants, a real lesson in football. Four first half goals were enough for the comprehensive win, which left the Bavarians wondering what has happened.

Barcelona have been playing very good over the last few years but their fans were skeptic about the team’s chances this season as the team had suffered big changes last summer. Pep Guardiola took over the reigns from Frank Rijkard and his first decision was to let two key players from the previous season, Deco and Ronaldinho leave the club. Many pundits questioned this decision but Guardiola’s Barca soon silenced the critics with a bright start to the season. The new coach managed to revitalize Thierry Henry, who now forms excellent attacking trio with Eto’o and Messi. Xavi and Iniesta were given even more freedom to roam forward as Yaya Toure was there to do a lot of defensive work and that worked as a charm. Gerard Pique blended right in, making defence even stronger than last season. Barcelona have played extremely well this season but the latest win over Bayern Munich is certainly the highlight of the season so far.

Barcelona had been considered hot favourites in the clash with the German giants but everyone knows that nobody can afford to underestimate a team like Bayern. Nevertheless, the Catalans played another great game and they made Bayern look like a bunch of amateurs, having led 4:0 at half time. The Germans couldn’t even win the ball back from Barca, let alone create a chance to score and they were simply taught a lesson in football by the magnificent Barcelona. The hosts continued to attack in the second half even though they didn’t need to and that is what Barcelona are really about and why they have so many supporters all around the Globe. Pep Guardiola’s team are showing that trophies can be won by playing attractive attacking football and I am sure that neutral football fans would be happy to see Barcelona lift the Champions League title.
