Real Madrid have nine days to find €80 million and sign Franck Ribery. After that deadline, Bayern will pull out of the deal. Captain Van Bommel wants the situation to resolve as soon as possible so that the team can continue preparations for the new season, with or without Ribery. Perez has just about enough money to buy Ribery but he wants Alonso and Arbeloa as well.
German newspaper ‘Bild’ claims that Bayern have set a nine-day ultimatum for Real during which they have to sign Ribery or the deal is off. The price is ‘just’ €80 million, and the club management have decided to act after facing the growing concern from boss Van Gaal and players, who feel that ‘Ribery case’ is disturbing the preparations for the new season.
On the behalf of the team, captain Mark Van Bommel spoke to the public.
“This has got to reach its conclusion, so that we can continue to work and train in peace. Nobody can profit from this kind of situation, especially not the club. I am not saying that I would like to see Ribery go, but the current situation is unbearable”, concluded the captain.
Perez has already spent €216 million during this transfer window for Ronaldo, Kaka, Benzema and Albiol. He still has around €80 million at his disposal, but Perez also wants Alonso and Arbeloa. Perez is still unable to get rid of fringe players, namely the Dutch contingent, in order to boost his transfer budget.
