Shakhtar Donetsk defender Dmytro Chygrynskiy has rejected the offer from mighty Barcelona and decided to stay in Ukraine, at least for the time being. One could argue he is a fool to do this but the player certainly has his reasons for rejecting the chance to join the best club in Europe at the moment.
Dmytro Chygrynskiy has just given plenty of world class players a very good reason to be jealous of him. Namely, Champions League winners Barcelona wanted to boost their ranks with the Ukrainian centre-back but the player rejected the offer without any problems.
“I fully understand that Barcelona do not send these kinds of offers every day and to everyone. This is a very important day for me. It is possible that I will never have such an opportunity in my career. On the other hand, I want to prove to myself that I am worthy of their interest and I intend to raise my game even further”, said Chygrynskiy.
The 22-year-old player, who won the UEFA Cup with Shakhtar last season, is already a first team regular in Ukraine national team and he is probably not prepared to sit on the substitutes’ bench, even if the bench is located at Camp Nou.
