In the ‘global village’, as Marshal McLuhan called the world, news spread across the planet in the matter of hours. An unknown hacker managed to con football media by hacking several French websites into believing that Klaas Jan Huntelaar had joined Olympique Marseille. The fraud was discovered when the player himself denied the transfer.
Yesterday’s news said Klaas Jan Huntelaar had signed for Olympique Marseille. Stuttgart officials were very disappointed with the news, especially since Real had already accepted their offer for the Dutch striker.
What really happened?
An unnamed hacker hacked into several French web portals, infiltrated the news and the avalanche started. Number of world media believed the story was true and even Marseille fans started celebrating the big name signing.
The fraud was revealed only when Huntelaar himself denied he was joining the Velodrome outfit.
Even though Real accepted Stuttgart’s offer, the player is still having second thoughts as he believes that he deserves to play in much bigger club. The Hunter waited for offers from Manchester United or Milan, but to no avail.
