The transfer saga involving Franck Ribery is starting to resemble the one when Arsenal were trying to buy Andrei Arshavin. The Frenchman looks to be keen on leaving the club but Bayern wouldn’t like to see him leave. That is no big surprise since Bayern are nothing more than an average team without Ribery. Even though the Bavarians are doing their best to keep the player at the club, president Franz Beckenbauer is aware that there are only two options possible. Either Ribery signs a new contract immediately or he leaves.
Even though club’s general manager Uli Hoeness had earlier denied allegations that the player will leave the club this summer, Franz Bekenbauer has hinted that transfer is an option in an interview for Bild newspaper.
The former World Cup winner stated: “I see only one of two solutions: either we offer Ribery a contract extension for him to sign or we let him go. Personally, I hope he stays and signs a new contract. I rate him, together with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, as the best player in the world at the moment.”
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester United are all interested in signing the excellent winger, although his price will be very high. Last week Uli Hoeness jokingly said that “one leg is worth €40 million” or maybe he was dead serious.
Florentino Perez has stated that Ribery would be the second acquisition, since Real are finalizing the deal to sign Kaka, and the Frenchman himself is interested in joining the Spanish giants as his personal friend, Zinedine Zidane is Perez’s advisor. The Spanish media are suggesting that Perez is ready to offer Arjen Robben, Rafael van der Vaart and Wesley Sneijder in exchange for Ribery, and these are the players that new Bayern coach Louis van Gaal would surely welcome to the team.
