This young man reminds a lot of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. And it’s not just the Balkan roots but the play too. His career path started in a similar way; he drew European club’s attention by scoring goals in Eredivisie. Marko Arnautovic is Twente’s strongest weapon and he was influential in their quest for the Champions League.
Arnautovic was born in Vienna, Serbian by origin but unlike Neven Subotic and Zdravko Kuzmanovic he chose Austrian jersey. As he himself admits, he has always dreamed of playing in a big club; he went from Florisdorfer to Austria Wien. After playing in the youth squad, he got back to his parent club because he had a clash with his coach. His superiority over his peers is best seen in the fact that the small club lead by Marko Arnautovic won Austrian first-league youth squads.
He drew attention of many scouts but his father made the right decision. Actually, in spite of offers from Italy and Germany, he opted for Netherlands where besides tulips strikers blossom too.
It was the right choice; starting with the goals in youth squad, Arnautovic soon proved that he deserved to play with the seniors. He fit in excellently in 4 – 3 – 3 system and soon became an irreplaceable part of Twente.
The best description of this young player is strength plus technique. This 192 cm tall young man has a dribbling typical of South Americans and excellent right kick. He can play up front too but behind the strikers. He has already grown past the Dutch championship but Twente wish to hold on to him.
Roma and few other English clubs, first of all Blackburn, are interested but his price is 12 million Euros. The latest rumor has it that Genoa are ready to pay the price. They plan to sign Arnautovic as a replacement for Milito.
President Preciozi is ready to invest the money as he believes that 20-year old striker will be worth a fortune in few years time.
He made his debut in Austrian national squad and since his country has problems in the attack Arnautovic is a gift for the Austrians.
He is restless, training overtime and practicing materialization, which speaks enough of his ambition. That is the part Ibrahimovic didn’t work on, and he still has problems in such situations.
Is Arnautovic going a step forward?
