Adriano had made too many problems for a lifetime while at Inter, let alone for a footballing career but club management always found a way to overlook his misdemeanors on the account of remarkable talent he possessed. He often went partying when his teammates were preparing for the games and seeing Adriano come to training drunk was not such a rare sight. The striker was treated for depression and was given all the time in the world to sort out his life but he just couldn’t do it. Inter officials decided to cancel his contract in April this year and we all thought that it was the end of what could be a remarkable career.
Nevertheless, L’Imperatore decided to re-join his former club Flamengo in an attempt to revive his career. He had a dream debut for Flamengo scoring the winner in 2:1 win over Atletico Paranaense, but just as everyone thought that he might be able to kick-start his career after all, the striker went missing from training and nobody really knows where he is at the moment.
Following the incident coach Cuca said: “His absence was not planned. We will see later on, when he arrives, what he has to say for himself. Something must’ve happened.”
Something have happened indeed, probably another late night out as that is likely to be the reason of Adriano’s mysterious disappearance. This latest episode showed that striker’s footballing career had virtually ended, but at least he can now continue drinking and partying without worrying too much what the people say. This is probably why he chose to return to Flamengo and even though he could go on to play, whenever he feels capable, for a couple of more years, I can honestly say that in terms of football he will never be the same again. It is a waste to see such a talent go down the drain he was given more than enough chances to come good and if he didn’t care what will happen to his talent, why would we?
