Italy is hit by the news that Inter’s best player is willing to leave Serie A and pack his bags for Spain. Well-informed sources imply that money is not the matter now, unlike in the time of his move from Juventus when he claimed to be unprepared to play in Serie B. But it later came to the light of a day that despite the calciopoli, Juve would’ve sold the Swede striker anyway since they couldn’t meet the financial terms of his contract.
This time, money is really not a matter because Zlatan is with a 12 million per season deal that is set to hold him in Inter to 2013. Sources close to the club itself claim that his manager, Mino Raiola, admitted being approached by Barcelona. Zlatan’s motives are pure, after Champions League elimination, Ibrahimovic is disappointed and aware that Inter are not good enough to conquer Europe. That is exactly why in his statement after the game with Fiorentina he solved bagging a brace, Ibrahimovic told he needed to play much better because what is good enough for Italy is insufficient for Champions League. If we keep in mind that Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s ultimate goal is “Golden Ball”, recognition for Europe’s best player, his motives are clear. His national team will bring him nothing, without success in Europe he can’t hope for trophies.
Barccelona have already talked to Zlatan’s manager hoping that Ibrahimovic’s wish to leave would be enough to convince Inter to give up on their best player. However, since Eto’o is unwilling to sign a new deal, he might become a part of a trade. Namely, Barca are hoping that €50 million and Cameroon striker will be enough for Moratti.
Inter owner is silent for now, he is on a business trip in USA, but we shouldn’t forget that he is deeply affected by Manchester United elimination and that he will either sell Inter, or cut his investments in order save his empire from world economic crisis. In addition, he is said to be in a sort of a silent dispute with Mourinho who is asking for €100 million for next transfer window in order to try and bring Aguero, Drogba and couple of other young players.
We will see how the things will unfold later on… Anyhow, as it appears, Inter will not be able to keep the unsettled player on board, but Moratti’s word will definitely be the last.
