Is Cira Ferrara in for a sack?

There were speculations these days that the rooky on the bench and the club legend will end his odyssey before he started. Supposedly he was give few more days, the games against Inter and Bayern to prove that he deserves to stay on the bench.

However, we don’t think that will work out for several reasons

1. Ferrara on the bench is the condition for Lippi’s return to the club next summer. Not as a coach but as a director or even president with high authority. He didn’t deny the possibility to return and the owners, Elkanni trust only Lippi. That is why it seems that Ferrara is safe as long as Juve are in top five or if they win od draw in match Juventus – Bayern on Tuesday, which should be expected as they are playing at home after all.

2. There is no real solution. Juventus opted for a long-term project and it will be really hard to find an adequate coach. There were some speculations about Hiddink and the fans wouldn’t allow for Roberto Mancini to arrive because of his past.

3. Old squad won’t let their former team mate go that easily. The opinion of Del Piero, Buffon and other senators in the locker room is highly regarded in the club. The club wouldn’t want to dispute with the group of older players that enjoy a lot of respect from the owners.

4. The fans still trust Ferrara, as regardless of his failures, he is one of them. He is the symbol of Juventus and they certainly have more patience than with Ranieri.

5. The way last two coaches left was illustrative. Juventus are the biggest Italian football clubs, Deschamps walked away on his own after the return to Serie A, while Ranieri became a real expert who got sacked after four decades. The new change on the bench would cause a big problem for the management too as their capabilities are already questioned.

That is why we think that Ferrara is still safe, even in the worst case scenario. This season is probably lost for Juventus as no one believes that they will manage to match Inter. It is also illusive to expect Juventus to have an important role in the champions League even if they make it to the knockout stage.
