It is now official, Ricardo Kaka is the first signing in the new Galacticos era! The deal is thought to be worth around €68 million. The Brazilian thanked the former club, while dodging the question whether it was him who wanted to leave, and official unveiling will be made on 30th June, after the Confederations Cup. The deal was struck last night with Kaka agreeing to a six-year deal.
The Brazilian playmaker thanked his former club by saying: “I would first like to say thanks to Milan for everything they’ve done for me. Thanks for all the titles that made me the player I am now. If it hadn’t been for Real’s offer, I wouldn’t have left Milan, but the financial situation, that is to say the economic crisis forced Milan to let me leave.”
This statement is in complete contrast to Kaka’s initial reaction to the start of the negotiations, when he said he felt betrayed by Milan.
“In the end, I am leaving to Madrid and I want to win titles with Real, the team which already boast a lot of great players. We want to conquer Spain and Europe together”, stated the Brazilian.
The journalists were interested to know whether Kaka had really wanted to leave, or if he had to accept Real’s offer. Kaka’s response was very diplomatic.
“One could not refuse this kind of offer from Real, but my intention was to stay in Milan for the rest of my career”, it was obvious that one of the best footballers in the world wanted to dodge the answer to this question.
Kaka will be officially unveiled in Madrid at the end of June, after the Confederations Cup.
He didn’t want to disclose what number he would wear and if it would be Zidan’s 5, while he said he hoped that Milan, led by his countryman Leonardo, who brought him to Italy, would win the title next season.
