Brazil captain Lucio has been released from his contract at Bayern Munchen and he will sign a three-year deal with Italian champions Inter. The clubs have agreed not to disclose the transfer fee for the towering defender. Lucio was thought to be seeking a new challenge after spending five years with the Bavarians, whereas Mourinho decided to act after missing out on Ricardo Carvalho.
Inter had big problems at the back last season and Jose Mourinho was keen on signing a central defender. After missing out on Ricardo Carvalho, he turned his attention to experienced Lucio, who had already expressed desire to leave. The clubs have agreed an undisclosed fee and the player has been cleared to sign a three-year contract.
Lucio has been an integral part of Bayern and Brazil national team in the last five years and his experience will definitely help Inter in their Champions League push. On the other hand, Inter have sold left-back Maxwell to Barcelona and thus cleared the way for one of the hottest prospects in Italian football, Davide Santon.
