FC Internazionale are certainly the worst losers in whole Italy. Many times throughout history we have seen things fall apart after only one failure. A barrage of criticism followed, the media question all accomplishments and the team is cracking under pressure. Just remember last year when few failures in Serie A and also the elimination by Liverpool caused a breakdown and Robert Mancini’s departure. He even resigned, only to change his mind few hours later. But what media speculated turned out to be true, as the trophy-winning coach was already fired, and Moratti had an agreement with Mourinho.
How will Mou react when things go downhill? Almost anyone who is familiar with Inter’s mentality have asked this question. The ones who don’t like the Portuguese coach were glad, knowing that “The Special One” will face some things that are hard to imagine in England.
The disaster in Bergamo was announced a week before against Cagliari, and during the autumn Inter’s results were better than the play but the impression is not the most important thing in Serie A. As long as there was a decent gap ahead of Juventus and Milan everyone on the Apennines somehow put up with Mourinho’s arrogance, mind games with other coaches, controversial statements, arguing with the press. But, on the other hand, everyone waited for the shipwreck.
The criticism started even before the match against Atalanta, while today everyone competes who will throw a bigger stone on the Portuguese coach and his team. The transfer window is being analyzed, Quaresma and Mancini are to blame and they already seem as failures of the year. „Adriano“ and „Balotelli“ cases are the top of an ice berg; Mourinho is reproached for failing in ’man management’ and for not being able to communicate with the players team needs.
How will The Special One react?
His predecessor often lost his temper in this psychological war against the media, he accused almost everyone and in the end few people shed a tear when Moratti sacked him even though he won two titles.
But today Mancini must be laughing somewhere out there, because this time last year Inter had a double-digit gap over Roma, Juventus and Milan and regardless of the fact they struggled to keep it, the winter was calm and peaceful at Meazza.

Max Moratti already added insult to injury by saying that Mourinho is responsible for the results in 2009. One lucky point from two games and Juventus right behind their back probably reminded the president of the beginning of the 21st century when these kinds of situations saw Inter rule themselves out of the title race.
Mourinho seems calm but the mere mention of new signings in January was not well received. President said that he won’t be buying and this first restriction the coach got since he came on the bench is pretty indicative.
Honeymoon is over, there is no more forgiveness, and Portuguese coach has already lost all credit with his arrogant attitude. We believe that whole Italy, except Inter fans, of course, wishes the well known scenario to repeat: Inter’s crash and the end of a big illusion. The same goes for the press, newspapers sell better when you write about disasters.
This is a crossroads for the champion, fearsome Manchester United is lurking behind the corner, and fierce rivals Juventus are right behind their back.
Enough to make this winter in Milan even colder.
