Juventus legend and Czech veteran Pavel Nedved, who announced his retirement last season, changed his mind, so he will probably continue playing.
Juventus offered the 36-year old midfielder to prolong his contract to another season, but the Czech refused that announcing the end of his career. After retiring from the trophy-winning Italian club, Nedved got the offer from Inter, but the Czech refused the offer without thinking twice, out of love for his old club and respect for the fans. However, he changed his mind after the break.
“I needed a vacation, but now after two months, I am frightened of a future without football. I’m practicing with Skalma, amateur club from Czech Republic because I can’t live without the ball“ said blonde Czech.
We have already seen such decisions from Nedved few seasons ago when he after each season said to retire professional football, but this time the Czech stated that he would like to continue his career in USA.
“I would like to experience life in America, together with my family“ said Nedved and confirmed that he is seriously thinking about returning to the national squad.
“I spoke to Ivan Hasek and promised that I would consider coming back. However, first I have to start playing somewhere, then I can think about the national team” concluded the Czech player.
Besides Juventus, Nedved played for the Dukla and Sparta from Prague, before moving to Lazio in 2001. After eight seasons in sky-blue jersey he moved to „old lady“ squad. The only unaccomplished aim of his is the Champions League while he was in Juventus and the biggest regret is the yellow card in the returning leg against Real Madrid, when players like Raul asked the referee to withdraw the decision, so the Czech could play in the finals in 2003 when his team lost to Milan after penalties.
He has recorded 91 caps for the national squad and scored 18 goals, while in Juventus he scored 51 in 244 games. This fantastic record as well as the incredible fighting spirit, his name will always be written in golden letters in both Czech and Italian football.
