Siena management decided to introduce some novelties in their doping control. Actually each player will take a lie detector test before the control. This is the first such example in European football and if this proves useful, other big leagues will certainly use this method too.
The players will have to prove through a lie detector that they weren’t been abusing stimulating substances.
Siena will use the polygraph, invented and programmed by professor of University of Padova, Giuseppe Sartori and they are ready to offer the machine to other clubs as well.
“We have already used the polygraph in negotiation with the players we were interested in. We are sure that it is the right method and hope that soon other teams will embrace it as well”, said the chief of club medical service Umerto Zebrini.
He stated that the lie detector test lasts about 15 minutes, during which time the player gets 70 questions and the device determines whether the answers are true or false.
“That is our way of protection from irresponsible players. If the player proves positive on doping control he will suffer major losses, not only result wise but they also lose the sponsors”, said Zebrini.
