Carlo Ancelotti left Milan after eight years, one year before the end of his contract, with no hard feelings or accusations. Leonardo will start his era today, whereas Carleto is yet to announce his next destination. Even though he seemed to be on the brink of joining Chelsea, Real Madrid is back in the race.
As we have announced few days ago, Carlo Ancelotti is leaving Milan. The coach officially announced his decision yesterday but denied the speculations that he had agreed to join Chelsea. Long-serving coach said goodbye to the club and the fans without any harsh words spoken.
Ancelotti refused to criticize Berlusconi, with whom he had had a couple of disagreements along the way, and wished all the very best to the team, which will be led by Brazilian Leonardo in the future. Former Milan player, who will take on his first coaching job, will be officially unveiled this afternoon at a press conference in Milanelo.
The latest reports are suggesting that Real Madrid will try to snatch Ancelotti from under noses of Chelsea. Last night Chelsea officials called off the press conference during which they were supposed to announce new boss and that only goes to say that Real Madrid have entered the race to sign Carleto.
Ancelotti admitted in his autobiography that he had struck a deal with Florentino Perez in 2006, but Berlusconi pulled the plug on the deal and prevented the coach from joining Real Madrid. As the Italian media are suggesting, the main reason behind Ancelotti having second thoughts about joining Chelsea, is Kaka’s possible move to Real Madrid as Carleto is eager to continue his collaboration with the excellent playmaker.

Just an hour after I have completed writing this article, the news appeared that Carlo Ancelotti had signed a contract with Chelsea, despite the reported interest from Real Madrid. This puts an end to the transfer saga we have been hearing a lot about in the past few days and I will try to give you a couple of thoughts on the matter. Even though Carleto is definitely a very good coach and his defence-minded approach will probably suit the Blues, my opinion is that Chelsea fans want to see their team attacking their opponents with all they’ve got just like they did under Guus Hiddink and I doubt that the fans will be too happy with Ancelotti’s appointment. Nevertheless, If Carleto manage to help the Blues lift the long-awaited Champions League trophy the fans will probably forgive him everything, but I will try to reserve the judgment on the new boss at least until after the first part of the new season.
