Former Inter boss, Roberto Mancini revealed that he had been under pressure from Massimo Moratti to put certain players in the starting line-up. Even though he did not disclose any names, Italian media speculate that Recoba, Adriano and Figo are the players in question.
Roberto Mancini has been out of job for more than a year now. Nevertheless, former Inter boss has announced he would return to football very soon. He’s got plenty of offers, from unnamed English clubs and also from Japan national team.
In an interview for Italian newspaper ‘Avvenire’, Mancini spoke about his future plans, while he also revealed president Moratti tried to meddle into his affairs.
“He tried on several occasions to make me start one of the players he was fond of. However, during my entire reign at Inter, I managed to defy his attempts”, stated Mancini while adding that it was one of the biggest problems of Italian football.
Of course, he mentioned no names, but they are easy to guess. One of those is definitely Recoba, who was Moratti’s favourite but found himself on the fringes during Mancini’s reign. Luis Figo and Adriano are probably other players.
However, this kind of situation is said to have cost Mancini his job as it was the Portuguese who first stood up against Mancini and lobbied for the arrival of Mourinho.
