In spite of assuring everyone that Leonardo will finish this season and won’t pay for Berlusconi’s stinginess and selling of the best player, the Brazilian probably won’t stay on the bench if he keeps this up.
We have already written about that he will be the scapegoat and it is hard to tell who will inherit his post.
Berlusconi wants Van Basten, but the Dutchman follows his head not his heart. It would simply be needless risk at this point, as there is no guarantee that the team will improve next summer.
With the squad as is, even better managers wouldn’t stand a chance.
There are some speculations that Spalletti will come, but it is another misinformation. Former Roma boss is definitely not so stupid as to gamble with his reputation and Milan don’t have the money to pay him as much as Zenit. He gave up the money in Roma by resigning, but on the other hand, he already had the offer from the East.
Talking about East, rossoneri want to see Juande Ramos, who went to CSKA after he got sacked from Real. This option might reopen in summer, but the Spaniard will ask for some guarantees that the team will undergo drastic changes. The revolution asks for money and Berlusconi is holding it tight in his pocket.
Having all of this in mind there are two possible options: Leonardo might really hold on in Milan till the end of the season, as no one will want to replace him, while the other option would be to bring a young coach again, one of the former players. They might give a chance to Tassoti or Costacurta, which would practically be the same show but with different actors.
A third option is also mentioned, for someone like Zaccheroni to take over as a caretaker manager and get things started, but that is not likely to happen. No one wants to eat heated soup in Italy.
After all, the outcome of the season was seen even before it started.
