Watford are pathetic this season and everyone knows that. There is no sign of the magic Marlon King, Ashley Young, Dan Shittu and Darius Henderson spread. All of them have long ago continued their career in other, better clubs, and Watford is left only with the players that they couldn’t sell. Desperate transfer window took [...]

South Americans in Coca Cola Championship – part II
We continue with our analysis of the mostly anonymous players from South America which have decided to test their luck playing in Coca Cola Championship. Judging from the first part of our story, it appears that keepers have took root in this league, since the Brazilian Adriano Basso from Bristol City and Argentine Julian Speroni from Crystal Palace are indeed two excellent goalies that could easily take their chance in Premier League.
The largest transfers in CCC this summer- do they deserve it ?
Although Championship is not about the half money there is in major European soccer leagues, there were still some pretty hefty transfers this year. We will point out the most interesting ones because the invested money didn’t pay off quite the way it should’ve.
Biggest transfer this summer, at least by the disclosed amount, is the transfer of Nottingham Forest striker, Robby Earnshow. This injury-liable, 27 year-old, was paid even 2.6 million pounds to come to the former European champions from their local rivals Derby County. Over the last couple of years, numerous injuries have prevented him from putting some vintage displays he showed playing for Cardiff, WBA and Norwich. He failed to show his worth wearing red shirt so far, his injuries keep rolling on. Forest are notching up defeats, embarrassing themselves, and they are convincingly last at the standings. Final judgment, even in case he starts playing a lot better is: FAILURE.
Managers for immediate sacking
Well, all right, it happens once in a while that a fine manager wanders off to Coca Cola Championship. There is no room in the Premiership for them all. Here’s an example. When the anemic Glen Roeder took Newcastle’s hot seat in February 2006, it had immediately hit me that he will not be able to do much to heal the Crows’ chronic disease. However, when Roeder appeared as the savior of Norwich City, about a year ago, his influence had an immediate impact with the fallen Canaries. Keeping his desperate team in the league was a huge success at the time, while this year, though not rolling great, he still has a lot of potential to make his team a huge surprise and get it to the play-offs. Just wait for the end, you will see…
Championship tops and flops
This Coca Cola Championship season is not different than the recent ones. As always, every team can beat the next one, and the teams that were going through the losing streak, all of a sudden enter even longer winning streak.
